Welcome to Galactic Saber, A new kind of light saber league.

The French Fencing Federation has recently recognized Lightsaber duels as an official sport.

The force is getting stronger in France, where the French Fencing Federation has officially recognized lightsaber dueling as a competitive sport. According to The Associated Press, the federation has given the iconic "Star Wars" weapon the same status as the traditional blades — the foil, épée and saber — and competitors can now begin to train like Luke Skywalker.

The federation is fighting childhood obesity epidemic and the popularity of more sedentary video games. "With young people today, it's a real public health issue. They don't do any sport and only exercise with their thumbs," Aubailly told the AP. "It's becoming difficult to [persuade them to] do a sport that has no connection with getting out of the sofa and playing with one's thumbs. That is why we are trying to create a bond between our discipline and modern technologies, so participating in a sport feels natural."

This is a cause the Redux Society can get behind! Starting May fourth the Redux Society will be offering Lightsaber duel training. Taught by Martial art and fencing experts this class will teach saber combat adjusted for the French Fencing Federation rule book.

FACTIONS

YODIAN

The Yodian (jedi) embrace altruism. They believe the good of the whole is more important than one individual.

Though always linked with the good guys there is a dark side to altruism. When thinking as a whole it's easy to lose sight of reason and forget there is more than one side in the universe.

JINNDO

The Jinndo embrace balance.

We are the universe and the universe is me.

While true balance can lead to inaction, a follower of Jinndo strives to find balance in thier purpose. Leaning too hard one way or the other will cause a seeker of balance to fall to Kreiax or Yodian.

There is ego, yet there harmony with the universe.

To master thyself is to find serenity with universe.

Achieve balance, achieve true freedom.

KREIAX

To be one with the Kreiax (sith) is to embrace the ego. It is to understand that the truth of the universe. The universe is chaos and humanity is selfish.

Those who follow the path of ego, tend to get a bad rap. But indeed it simply mean they are focused on improving themselves before attempting to fix what's around them.

To strengthen and master thyself will break my chains and free me.

Initiate

New Galactic Saber students

Apprentice

Students with 1 month of classes
Have mastered Kata I
Must pick a faction

Acolyte

Students with 3 months of classes
Have mastered Kata II both offensive and defensive sides
Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the 7 forms of lightsaber
Have chosen a quote to define their fighting philosophy

Knight

Students with 6 months of classes
Have mastered Kata I, Kata II, and Kata III
Have created and taught their own Kata
Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of advanced combat philosophy such as zones, timing, footwork, and feints
Have chosen an emblem
Have chosen a specialization

Master

Students with 1 year of classes
Have demonstrated a mastery and educated others on a relevant skill they acquired outside of Galactic Saber class
Have trained at least 1 person to the level of Apprentice

SPECIALIZATIONS

Specific Specializations must be chosen by each member at the Knight level

Guardian - Brandishing their lightsabers proudly, Guardians focus much of their training on perfecting their sparring and athletic skills, as well as the art of unarmed combat.

Guardians are often:

Lightsaber Instructors
Professional Duelists

Consular - Focusing not on physical force but on mastery of philosophy and sharpening of mental skills. Knights who become Consular work closely with the Diplomatic Corps and medical facilities.

Consular are often:

Ambassadors
Diplomats
Healers
Lore Keepers
Researchers

Sentinel - Knights that seek a balance between the intensive combat training of the Guardians and the wider philosophical views and teaching responsibilities of the Consular.

Sentinels are often:

Investigators
Rangers
Watchmen
Shadows
